OUR HISTORY
RELAX IN Travels Inn Victoria
Travels Inn Victoria County has a rich history rooted in the hospitality traditions of Cape Breton Island. Originally established as a modest roadside inn, it has grown over the years into a welcoming stop for travelers exploring the scenic Cabot Trail and the surrounding areas. Its strategic location near the Bras d’Or Lakes and Kelly’s Mountain has made it a popular resting point for tourists, business travelers, and ferry passengers heading to Newfoundland.
Over the decades, the inn has undergone several renovations and expansions to accommodate the increasing number of visitors. While maintaining its rustic charm, the property has incorporated modern amenities to enhance guest comfort. The addition of features like an outdoor pool, reading lounge, and café has helped make it more than just a place to stay—it has become a cozy retreat for those seeking a relaxing and scenic getaway.
Despite its growth and modernization, Travels Inn has remained dedicated to providing warm and friendly service, a hallmark of its longstanding reputation. Many guests return year after year, drawn by the inn’s homely atmosphere and its close proximity to Nova Scotia’s breathtaking landscapes. The inn’s story is one of tradition, hospitality, and continuous effort to offer travelers a comfortable experience while preserving the natural beauty and charm of its surroundings.

GISELES HISTORY
Welcome To Gisele’s Inn Baddeck! We like to say that Gisele’s Inn is where European charm, and warm Cape Breton hospitality create a unique experience!
In 1976 Hans and Helen Sievers became owner/operators of the 23 room Gisele Hotel when they purchased this stunning 4 acre property from Hans’ mother who had operated this original MacNeil family home as a Bed and Breakfast for many years.
The original home has been added to, and renovated, and is one of 3 original homes built by well-known local contractor Neil MacNeil in the 1800’s. Silver Dart Lodge, and Inverary Inn also feature homes built in the 1800’s by the MacNeil family.
Auberge Gisele’s Inn has seen several expansions and renovations. From its beginnings as a tourist lodge, Hans and Helen Sievers have added many new buildings creating a total of 78 well appointed and comfortable guest rooms.
Our 4 star dining room opened in 1976 with 52 seats. As demand for a fine dining experience grew, so did our dining room. Mr. and Mrs. Sievers expanded it over the years to develop it into the dining experience we offer today. Some of the finest cuisine on Cape Breton Island can be found right here.
In 2017 the Khan family purchased the property from the Sievers. They completely renovated the property in 2018 and look forward to offering the same great quality and service that Giseles’s is know for.
Mr. Khan, his family, and all of the staff here at Gisele’s Inn Baddeck wish you a warm and wonderful stay, and all the best on your Cape Breton adventure!
